CLOVENFORDS rider Alex Mundell saddled up for success at the recent British Schools Equestrian Championships at Addington Manor in Buckinghamshire.

The 14-year-old took part as an individual rider due to her qualification last October and competed in both the dressage and show jumping sections.

Firstly Alex competed in the prelim, novice and elementary dressage tests, and obtained an 8th, 9th and 10th place respectively on her new 15hh horse Pebbly Limited Edition.

In the show jumping competition, competing on her 14hh pony, A Touch of Frost, she had to qualify in the top eight during the Sunday morning competition in order to compete in the evening final. After jumping a double-clear in two classes and gaining a fast jump-off time, Alex was named to compete in both evening competitions.

In the 80cms class she rolled a pole in the jump-off and was placed fourth, while in the 90cms final the dynamic duo led the way with a fast double-clear only to be beaten into second place by the last rider of the evening by .36 of a second.
