Langholm beat Threlkeld by 196 runs

Langholm produced their best performance so far this season in the Eden Valley League to defeat Threlkeld at the Castleholm.

Langholm opened the batting and got off to a fine start to reach 58 before Ben Maxwell (33) was caught and bowled by Winter.

After Chris Stewart (5) departed, Gregor Park linked up with his brother Graham and the formidable partnership quickly added the runs. Graham Park was eventually bowled by Banister after a superb innings of 77 to make it 174 for 3.

After 40 overs, Langholm reached 253 for 6, with Gregor Park contributing with an excellent knock of 74.

Visitors’ opener Jefferson was looking for his third consecutive century and thumped the Langholm bowling attack for a couple of sixes, but was then caught by Wilson off Graham Park for 22.

The Threlkeld batting order, who were a player short and with their 10th man deciding not to bat, crumbled and finished all out for 57 in 23 overs.

In the home bowling, Jack Pool had 3 for 12, with Steven Johnstone 2 for 11.
