HERIOTS II1

Kelso welcomed Heriots seconds to Earlston and, after coming off second best to them earlier in the season, came back fighting with a scoring spree.

Kelso opened the scoring after five minutes with a goal from Kirsty Logan who followed up shortly afterwards with a lovely ball in to Lucy Murray to score the second.

Next Lucy Murray flew up the wing and crossed to Kirsty Logan who played the ball in for Olivia Kerr to put it in at the post. Murray struck again with a solo run up the wing and drove in to score before Heriots clawed one back straight after the restart.

Logan scored again and Murray completed her hatrick with a beautiful goal just before the half time whistle.

Kelso had to defend a bit more in the third quarter but they stood strong before midfielder Suzanne Fleming got on the score sheet twice with good goals coming within five minutes of each other. Murray then put in a lovely strike across the front of goal which Kerr cleaned up to put in her second of the day. Logan got her hatrick from a cracking penalty corner strike just before full time to take the score into double figures.

This young team played some entertaining hockey, with a couple of girls stepping up from the thirds, to keep their second spot in East Division One, just behind Peebles.
