Berwick v Newcastle Medics hockey match at Berwick Acadamy

After the long trip it took the Borders outfit a while to get into this National League Two match and they went one nil down in the first fifteen minutes.

After much pressure however the Reivers Ladies rallied with Emma Grieve sweeping the ball effortlessly in to the goal. A nasty fall resulted in Laura McLean suffering a and the half-time score remained at 1-1.

Greater urgency was in evidence after the restart although once again it was the hosts who scored first. Great resilience and determination however saw the Fjordhus ladies awarded a penalty stroke which saw the ever reliable Janet Jack calmly netted to even the score.

Many thanks to Mr and Mrs Kellett for driving and navigating the bus to Aberdeen for the team.

This game started slowly but soon picked up momentum.

Abbie Forster made an outstanding sweep up the pitch to Polly Bell who found Emma Suddon on hand to direct the ball straight past the keeper for the only goal of the match.

The University side never gave up but an on form Reivers defence remained solid. A fine team performance in a very entertaining match.
