Selkirk players Donald and Diane carry off the accolades

Last Saturday was Championships Day at Selkirk Golf Club and, as always, there was a good crowd following the action.

In a rather untidy final, Donald Ballantyne eventually prevailed over Paul McVie at the 38th hole, to be crowned Club Champion for an impressive 18th time.

In the ‘B’ class final, N. Purves beat Mark Easson in a close encounter, while in the ‘C’ class final, Ron Robertson was in rampant form in beating Alan Brown.

As usual, it was a gritty affair between these two fine players, with Diane winning on the last hole.

Local photographer Grant Kinghorn was out and about on the course and snapped the principal winners.

The club was grateful to the sponsors of its championships – Heard Hamilton, Ronnie Douglas, John Coyle and N. W. Purves.
