Borders boxing great Davie Fraser has been named as the new president of Hawick Boxing Club, to which he has been associated with for more than 50 years.
Widely regarded as the best boxer the town has ever produced, Fraser, 65, takes over from outgoing president Eddie Brogan, who is stepping down due to other commitments.
“It is a real honour for me to be asked to take on this role. I have a lot of contacts in the sport and hopefully I can put these to good use,” said Fraser, who won several Scottish and District titles and represented Scotland numerous times.
