HAWICK’s Wilton Primary claimed the John Slorance six-a-side football tournament, defeating Langholm Primary 2-0.
Newcastleton Primary hosted the tournament, having won it the previous year.
The competition was played in a pool system and the teams that took part had to include at least one girl in the side.
Drumlanrig A, Drumlanrig B, Trinity, Stirches, Wilton, Denholm/Hobkirk, Langholm and Newcastleton all took part, with the latter two teams facing each other in the last of the vital group matches which Langholm won 2-1.
Newcastleton faced Drumlanrig in a third-place play-off and had a good 2-1 victory.
An athletics and football writer for TheSouthern and Hawick News, John set up the competition for schools in Hawick, but it has since expanded into Liddesdale.
John added: “The tournament was well attended and some good football was played.”
