(match abandoned after 55 minutes)

United drew first blood in this Waddell Cup tie, which was to come to a halt in the early part of the second half due to terrible conditions, when Ross Scott put away a Kevin Strathdee cross.

Daniel Bolton then put United further ahead in firing home after having cut in from the left.

The Teries kept up the good work and Kevin Strathdee rattled away another on meeting a Scott cross.

Rhymers fell further behind before the interval when Kevin Strathdee turned in a cutback from Scott Storrie.

Earlston made the running at the beginning of the second period by scoring within two minutes, and reduced the leeway even further, courtesy of a David Strathdee own goal.

With conditions which had been far from ideal from the start getting rapidly worse, referee David McNeil brought an end to the match with 55 minutes gone.
