Waverley make point

Pencaitland 4

Hawick Waverley 4

LINING up with a makeshift side which included manager Mick Hope in the centre of defence, Waverley drew first blood when Barry Shiel put away a Callum Hope cross.

Then Shiel added a second on meeting another cross from Hope.

After Waverley keeper Michael White twice halted Pencaitland with magnificent saves, the home side pulled a goal back.

Following the changeover, Pencaitland started with a flurry, scoring twice.

Battling Waverley took this in their stride, though, and Shiel notched an equaliser, completing his hat-trick, when slotting away a penalty.

Pencaitland hit back to score a fourth, but Waverley had the last say through a Jordan Yardley strike two minutes from the end.
