Waverley hit the right notes

Hawick Waverley 6

West Barns Star 0

ON SONG throughout, Waverley sailed into the lead when Jamie Richardson found the net with an excellent header on meeting a well-flighted Taylor Hope free kick.

Ross Wallace then added to Waverley’s tally, slotting away an Andrew Maltman cut back.

The Teries kept up the good work and Liam Lavery notched a third with a penalty after Maltman had been upended.

Producing some good football, Waverley soon went further ahead, with Maltman this time supplying the finishing touch, following good play by Lavery.

After Ross McLeod had made it a nap hand for the home men with a shot from a difficult angle, West Barns had a player sent off.

Just after this, Waverley grabbed another through McLeod, who tapped in a Neal McConnell touch-on from a Hope free kick.

Seconds from the finish Star were reduced to nine men due to another red-carding.
