Vics cry victory thanks to single Munro strike

CFC Bowholm 0

Selkirk Victoria 1

A BATTLING win at Canonbie kept Selkirk Victoria at the top of their league on Saturday.

Despite heavy rainfall all week, the pitch was in great condition and Selkirk dominated the early stages. The only goal of the game came after 10 minutes when Darren Munro smashed home his 16th of the season following a mix-up in the home defence.

Despite a number of corners and free kicks in good positions the visitors failed to increase their lead before half-time.

The second period followed the same pattern and stand-in keeper Ranald Wilkie had a quiet afternoon for the Vics.

Ryan Pritchard came close to adding a second, but his header was saved brilliantly by the Bowholm keeper. Wasteful finishing in the closing stages stopped Selkirk from increasing the lead.
