United succumb to Rovers’ nine-goal thumping

Hawick United 0

Tweeddale Rovers 9

HAVING not played since November 20, Tweeddale got back to some action with a nine-goal blitz over Hawick.

Hawick had the better of the early exchanges and were unlucky not to take the lead.

However, Tweeddale broke the deadlock when James Lord headed home from close range, and Grant Wilson and Blair Moffat added goals before half-time. Tweeddale secured the game early in the second half when, in a 10-minute spell, Grant Wilson added one, James Lord got two more to give him his hat-trick and Simon Warren netted one. Credit to Hawick for giving it a go, but late goals from Finlay Moffat and Chris Cassidy rounded off a fine overall team performance.

Special mention must go to the Hawick keeper who pulled off a string of good saves, or the score could have been worse.
