Tangerines on top after free-scoring encounter

Hawick Legion 2

Hawick United 5

UNITED gained the bragging rights in a free-scoring match.

The Tangerines drew first blood when David Strathdee netted with a penalty after Ross Scott had been brought down in the box by Thomas Scott.

United soon followed this up with a second. After being fed by a David Strathdee pass, Kevin Strathdee rattled in a shot that was parried by the Legion keeper. The ball rebounded to Kevin Strathdee who squared a pass to Steven Aries who fired home.

In the second half, Strathdee got his name on the scoresheet when netting a penalty. But, two minutes later, Legion’s Jory Robertson reduced the deficit, also from the penalty spot.

William Monteith cut the leeway even further to put Legion back in the hunt. After this, however, United got back into gear and Michael Moir notched a fourth following good play by Sean Owens. Kevin Paterson stuck away a pass from Kevin Strathdee to complete the scoring.
