Stow get better of Legion

Stow 3

Jed Legion 1

DUE to problems with Jed’s pitch, this game was switched to Stow.

Their own pitch problems are well documented, but thanks to a concerted effort by a few individuals all surface water was swept off the pitch and the game got the green light.

A couple of defensive slips allowed Stow’s Martin Gibson to round Steven Henderson in the Jed goal and slot home the opener in the fifth minute.

The visitors rallied to control the game for large spells in the first half without really troubling the home keeper, until Nathan Gillie put them on level terms midway through the first 45 when his 25-yarder found the bottom corner.

Into the second half, following a fairly even spell of play which saw neither team able to create a chance of any note, it was Stow who upped the ante in the final 20 minutes.

Having just hit the bar moments beforehand, the home side went ahead when Liam Hewitt was allowed room to head home from six yards.

Jed looked to try and get something from the game, but came up against a resolute Stow defence.

And with 10 minutes to go the hosts put the game out of reach when Scott Hunter was again afforded too much room on the edge of the box and was able to smash the ball past the helpless Henderson from 20 yards.
