Stow edge Ancrum in thrilling cup tie

Border Cup Round One

Stow got revenge over Ancrum in a high-scoring match. The home side took the lead after just two minutes, when Paul Young scored from a free kick, and doubled their lead five minutes later when Johnny Crawford scored a header.

The visitors halved the deficit when Ashley Langford scored in the ninth minute. James Runciman restored the two-goal lead, tucking away a Ryan Clapperton cross, and Stow made it 4-1 before half-time when Jordan Steele scored from the penalty spot.

Crawford scored his second of the game just after the hour-mark to make the score 5-1. Langford completed his hat-trick with a quick free kick and a looping header to make it 5-3. They narrowed the gap further when Steven Thomas netted, but the homesters scored again, with Hagen Steele scoring from the spot as Stow held on for a thrilling 6-4 victory.
