Stow compete, but are hit by two late goals

Stow 0

Hearts of Liddesdale 3

THREE second-half goals gave Hearts victory at Stow.

The visitors pressed in the first half, but could not breach the Stow defence with Wood and Runciman standing firm.

The home side had a few chances, but Rome in the Hearts goal was equal to them.

Disaster struck early in the second half for Stow with Hearts being awarded a penalty when Wilson needlessly clattered Armstrong in the box and Dean Thomson gave Kerr no chance from the spot.

The next 10 minutes saw Stow make several changes and these nearly paid off when only good goalkeeping and the woodwork saved the visitors from conceding.

With 10 minutes remaining, Brough put the visitors two up and in time added on, substitute McMillan added a third.

Meanwhile, Stow were presented with their new home and away strips on Saturday. The Ladhope Inn in Galashiels is the club’s home kit sponsor, while the Auld Mill is sponsoring the away kit. The club thanked Scott Paterson, owner of both pubs, for his support.
