Star turn from West Barns

Gala Fairydean 6

Ancrum 2

GALA finished the SBJFA Under-14s league campaign on a winning note with victory over Ancrum at Netherdale on Sunday – a late goal burst separating the teams.

Despite two excellent goals from Fraser Brown, Gala were pegged back by the visitors who always looked dangerous on the break. But goals from Jake Grierson and Nathan Berry put the home side in front again and a late double from Marcus Gordon sealed the three points.

Gala Fairydean: Murray, Martin, Cockburn, Mitchell, Turnbull, Gordon, Lowrie, Nicholson, McKenzie, Berry and Brown. Subs (all used): Lochrie, McIver, Grierson.

z The under-14s will create a small piece of history this evening when they will be involved in the last match to be staged on grass at Gala Fairydean before a new 3G surface is laid down.

They play Kelso in the semi-final of the SBJFA Cup, kick off 6.30pm.
