Star shine brightly as Waverley hit for seven

West Barns Star 7

Hawick Waverley 1

STAR got off to a bright start by breaking the deadlock in the fourth minute when Steven Higgenbottom fired home.

Minutes later Cameron McIntyre increased West Barns lead in netting with a free kick.

With a strong wind at their backs, the hosts kept up the pressure and McIntyre soon put Waverley into further arrears by finding the net again.

In the 20th minute Kevin Lees added to the homesters’ tally in blasting a free kick past Waverley keeper Michael White.

Just on the interval, Ross Hastie made it a nap hand for West Barns.

Following the changeover with the elements in their favour, Waverley began to come a lot more into the game, but it was Star who found the net through a Higgenbottom strike.

Waverley then reduced the leeway when Barry Shiel tucked away a penalty.

West Barns hit back to notch a seventh with a Steven Girdwood goal.
