Gala Hotspur 10

Earlston Rhymers 2

SPURS got back to winning ways with a 10-goal thumping of Earlston Rhymers at the Public Park.

The hosts were ahead within five minutes when David Crichton scored from close range. Scott Nightingale made it two after a great pass from Stewart Gibson, before Earlston pulled a goal back through Craig Robertson after poor Gala defending.

But Nightingale’s 35-yard lob, Lee Brown’s thunderbolt 25-yard shot and Gibson’s goal made it 5-1 to Spurs at half-time.

Rhymers rallied at the start of the second half and scored through Malky Smith, but Gary Cleghorn’s superb solo goal restored the homesters’ four-goal lead.

Two further strikes from Nightingale, an own goal and Stuart Harkness’ header completed the rout to keep Gala top of Division C.
