Gala Fairydean Rovers returned empty-handed after losing to Stirling University at Forthbank Stadium on Saturday.
With nine players unavailable, it was always going to be a tough task for the Braw Lads, but they will be kicking themselves for not getting a share of the spoils.
Stirling grabbed an early lead in the sixth minute with Owen Kelly scoring from close range, but Gala were back on level terms 10 minutes later when Drummond brought down Jamie Gibson just outside the box.The Gala striker dusted himself down and blasted home the free kick from 22 yards.
The home side responded through Chris Geddes, who headed home unchallenged.
It was a different story after the break as Gala pressed for the equaliser before a late red card for the frustrated Gibson – who retaliated after being fouled – added to the visitors’ woes, but they deserved a point for their second-half efforts.
