Rovers made it through to their second cup final of the season after a royal performance in their King Cup semi-final against Premier Division Craigroyston.
There were few chances in the opening 20 minutes, but when a chance did come it was for the hosts, when Daniel McAleavey whipped in a corner that was met by the head of captain Dale Richardson, whose effort hit the back of the net.
After 72 minutes, Craigroyston went down to 10 men when their number 10 was sent off for a second bookable offence, but that didn’t seem to affect the visitors, who won a penalty when their striker was tripped just inside the area, and took it himself to level the scores.
With four minutes to go, Shaun Meikle was pulled down in the box by Steven Togneri who was then shown a red card for abusive language. Jim Young stepped up to take the penalty and scored to take the win.
