Rovers draw after penalty miss

Ormiston 1

Peebles Rovers 1

Peebles boss Stuart Robertson was happy to leave East Lothian with a point, despite a missed penalty denying his side the maximum allocation.

Nicky Cairns had the chance to win the match for Rovers in the second half, but blasted the ball over David Simmonds’ crossbar.

After a scoreless first half, the home side took the lead through Craig Fisher’s spot kick on 60 minutes, but Peebles replied with a Michael McKenzie goal shortly afterwards.

Cairns then missed Rovers’ own penalty to leave both teams sharing the points.

Robertson said: “Ormiston have been playing well this season so I was pleased with the point, although we could easily have won.

“We are having to play all our games away from home just now due to our pitch problems, and we have a hard start to the season.

“But we now have a decent squad of around 15 or 16, so I am hopeful we can do well.”
