A young United team were given a lesson in finishing last weekend by a clinical Spartans EoS side.
The Tweedsiders got off to the worst possible start when going a goal down in the first two minutes and it was second half before they got into the game.
Unfortunately by that time they were six goals down.
Disappointed manager Prof Blaikie commented: “We got caught cold and the boys never got to the pace of the game until the second half.
“It is a reality for the young boys but they will learn from this.”
The visitors showed their intent early on and goals from Andy Howat (2), Blair Anderson, Alex Imian, Sean Stewart and Gerri Rossi saw Spartans 6-0 up at the break.
Anderson scored again before Kelso got on the score sheet, a long throw from Shane Bonnington was headed to the feet of Liam Hill who finished well.
