Peebles go for a nap to win battle of the Rovers

Hawick Legion Rovers 1

Peebles Rovers Reserves 5

HAWICK got off to a nightmare start by losing a goal and a player with just four minutes gone.

Jamie Dickson handled a net-bound shot in the box and referee Eddie Walsh duly awarded a penalty, as well as red-carding the Hawick man.

Jason Kane netted from the spot.

On the quarter-hour mark Steven Mulloy rattled a shot into the net. And with 29 minutes gone, Chris Robertson put Peebles further ahead with a penalty after Hawick keeper Ewan Reilly had brought down David Meldrum.

The remainder of the first half failed to bring about any further goals, but in the 66th minute Peebles stretched the lead again. After latching onto a long ball from the back, Sean Taylor raced in to place a shot past the helpless Reilly.

Three minutes later, goal stopper Reilly got Hawick on the scoresheet, netting the third penalty of the game.

Peebles came bouncing back and Andy Borthwick completed the scoring when he intercepted a Jamie Dalgleish passback and drove away a shot.
