Peebles Rovers are hoping to make their King Cup Final meeting with Spartans on Saturday a royal occasion, writes John Slorance.
Should Rovers pick up the silverware it would be the icing on the cake for what has been a splendid season. If not, Rovers team boss John O’Hara and his men can still hold their heads up high and be well delighted with what they have achieved – East of Scotland League First Division champions and Alex Jack Cup finalists.
Yes, Rovers have certainly made their mark.
The Whitestone Park side are the underdogs for Saturday’s clash despite them having taken the scalps of other Premier outfits during the season.
Peebles boss John O’Hara told The Southern: “We have not played a competitive game for two weeks and that’s a bit unfortunate.
“That’s the way it is, though, and we’ll just have to deal with it. We are a bit light in the squad as we have Shaun Meikle and Sean Connachan missing.
“However, we still have the tools to do the job. Spartans are a good side without any doubt, but our guys will be up for the game, that’s for sure as they really want to win that cup.
“We have surpassed all our targets this season, so winning the King Cup would be a big bonus”.
