A goal in each half, from veteran striker Paul Cook and teenager Jonathan Baxter, gave Star a deserved win at Yarrow Park.
The opening 45 minutes saw both teams trying to get to grips with the wind, and it was only in the second period that Dalbeattie took control.
There were few scoring chances in the early stages and the only time Star keeper Darren Martin was called into serious action was to deal with a fine volley from Ouzy See.
The Selkirk striking partnership of See and former Scottish internationalist Garry O’Connor caused Star no end of problems when the sides met at Islecroft, but this time around Dalbeattie’s defence kept them under control and See’s volley was the only real threat to the visitors’ goal.
Some excellent saves from Jamie Newman kept Selkirk in the match, before Baxter sealed victory with seven minutes remaining.
