Noble praises Hawick defence

PRODUCING some good passing football, Gala marched into the second round of the Waddell Cup.

But Division C outfit Hawick made their top flight rivals work hard for their victory through a resolute show which earned praise from Gala team boss Steven Noble.

“Hawick can be very proud of the way they played,” he told TheSouthern.

“It would have been very easy for them to put their heads down when they went two and three goals behind, but they had set out their stall to defend and made it very difficult for us in the process.”

Gala netted twice in the first half through Des Sutherland and Callum Jardine, who added another one apiece after the break, with Craig Gow adding the final goal of the game.
