Lowland League: Vale of Leithen thumped 8-1 at home

Vale of Leithen were demolished 8-1 at home to Dalbeattie Star after a second-half collapse which could drag them into relegation trouble at the bottom end of the Lowland League.

Elswhere, youngster Kerr Scott scored twice and Jordan Easton grabbed the third as Selkirk recorded an impressive 3-0 win away to Gretna. Gala Fairydean Rovers lost 3-1 at Spartans, with Dean McColm scoting the visitors’ only goal in their penultimate league fixture of the season.

A week after dismissing manager Mickey Lawson, Vale had Mark Lamb in temporary charge but any hope of a reversal in the Innerelthen side’s fortnutes have been crushed in an humilatiating defeat.

Graeme Bell gave the Dalbeattie the lead at Victoria Park before the home side levelled right on the stroke of half time.

Vale host league leaders Edinburgh City on Wednesday night. Selkirk are also in action midweek. They host Stirling University on Tuesday night. Both games kick off at 6.30pm.
