League business resumes in earnest

Peebles Rovers will be looking to consolidate their pole position in the East of Scotland Division One table on Saturday with a victory over Kelso at Whitestone Park.

John O’Hara’s team have enjoyed a good, solid start to their campaign with two wins and a draw. And, on Saturday, goals from Donovan Ndiweni and Frankie Arthur were enough to put the Rovers through to the semi-final stage of the Alex Jack Cup.

Kelso enjoyed last weekend off and, having failed to find consistency so far, will be hoping to pick their season up with a win at Peebles. Hawick Royal Albert travel to play Heriot-Watt University.

With their Scottish Cup hopes brought to a premature end last weekend, Selkirk and Gala both have the chance to bounce back again on Saturday as Lowland League business resumes.

For Selkirk, the opportunity of overtaking second-placed Whitehill Welfare with a win at Yarrow Park should be too good to pass up, while Gala welcome Glasgow’s Broomhill Sports Club to Netherdale.

Elsewhere, Vale of Leithen hit the road, travelling to play third-placed Spartans at Ainslie Park.
