Injury time score denies Souters

Craigroyston 2

Selkirk 1

An injury time winner from sub Mark Hendrie denied Selkirk a precious point from their first league game since November.

Craigroyston opened the scoring when Chris Gordon squeezed a shot through the legs of John Dodds in the visitors goal.

Selkirk had a brief spell of pressure in the opening half but their attempts were from long range, and either off target or easy to save.

A much better performance in the second half saw Selkirk score the next goal when a Michael Holness cross was headed in by David Battle. And, minutes later, the Souters missed a good chance to go in front when Jamie Gibson broke through the Craigie defence but his attempted lob was well saved.

It looked as though Selkirk had at least salvaged a point but in the third minute of injury time Craigie sub Stevie Moncur broke clear, and although Dodds stopped his shot the ball broke to fellow sub Hendrie who kept his composure to shoot home before disappearing under his delighted teammates.
