Hotspur hold on despite losing Ramage

CFC Bowholm 1

Gala Hotspur 3

A DOUBLE from Gary Cleghorn helped 10-man Gala Hotspur move six points clear at the top of Division C.

The visitors took the lead on five minutes when Cleghorn scored from close range, before Bowholm grabbed an equaliser midway through the first half.

But five minutes before the break, Cleghorn pounced on a Scott Nightingale corner to retake pole position.

Gala doubled their lead on 55 minutes as a great ball from Nightingale allowed Darren Tweedie to round the home keeper.

Richard Ramage was sent off on the hour mark after an altercation with a Bowholm striker.

However, the homesters could not add to their tally, thanks to a brave performance from the Spurs side, including two goal-line clearances from Tweedie and a number of saves from Gala’s Glen Murray.
