HAVING been without a game now since November 20, Selkirk’s footballers are kicking keen to get this weekend’s premier league fixture against Edinburgh City (2pm ko) under way.
Things were looking promising midweek as the thaw continued to clear the region’s sports pitches and, having spent most of Monday afternoon at his beloved Ibrox stadium, Selkirk FC chairman Jim Moody is in the fettle for some fine football action this weekend.
He told The Wee Paper: “After the memorial service we had a chance to mix with the current Rangers squad and management. I did ask a few if they wanted to come and sign for Selkirk, but I think they are still thinking about it.
“We are absolutely desperate for a game this weekend. City have had the benefit of training on an all-weather facility, something we would hugely benefit from, but I am optimistic that we can get out there and resume our winning ways.”
Selkirk’s only availability doubt at the time of going to print is over Ryan McManus, who may be working.
