Gordon hold out

Jed Legion 1

Gordon 1

DESPITE the poor conditions and the heavy playing surface, both teams served up an entertaining game.

The home side perhaps felt the more aggrieved at not claiming all three points which would have seen them move above their opponents and away from the relegation battle.

Liam Wallace, who was starting his first game for the home side since his return from Gala Fairydean, caused the visitors problems, backed up by an impressive performance from winger Nathan Gillie.

Jed opened the scoring when a defensive header from veteran Graeme Hyland was latched on to by Wallace who outpaced the defence to round Gordon keeper Craig Martin and slot home.

They could have gone two up soon after, but this time Martin was up to the task and saved well from Callum Webb.

Gordon then punished the home side when they equalised five minutes from the break. A free kick was sent into a good area and, despite a good block from David McWilliam, the ball fell to Bryan Tait who made no mistake.

The second half saw Jed go close through Jason Coles, Gillie and Wallace, before Gordon’s Greig Porter was denied by a great save from McWilliam.

The home side kept pushing for a winner, but were unable to find a way through.
