GALA Fairydean Rovers aim to return to winning ways when they head through to Maryhill to face BSC Glasgow this Saturday.
It follows two defeats for the club at the hands of local rivals Selkirk and Heriot Watt University in Saturday’s South Challenge Cup tie at Netherdale.
Gala were hot favourites against the East of Scotland league outfit but the students for the second year in a row knocked the Braw Lads out of the tournament.
The visitors grabbed an early lead and should have doubled their advantage only to miss a penalty kick.
Ryan Clapperton levelled for Gala on the half hour mark when he squeezed the ball into the net from a tight angle at the far post.
Heriot Watt took advantage of slack defending to regain the lead early in the second half but Gala came back and levelled with an Ian Chalmers header.
Extra time could not separate the teams and so it was down to a penalty shoot out.
Heriot Watt scored their first four but Dean McColm missed Gala’s opener.
Gala keeper Mark Wilson pulled off a tremendous save to keep out Heriot Watt’s fifth spot kick. However left back Scott Main struck the bar with Gala’s fifth spot kick which gave heriot Watt their place in the second round of the cup.
*Gala Fairydean Rovers are running a supporters bus to Saturday’s game in Glasgow. Meet at the clubrooms at 11.15am for a prompt 11.30am departure.
