Football: A look ahead to the weekend fixtures

Should the game go ahead it would be Rovers first outing since before Christmas.

That’s a long layoff to say the least and commenting on this situation Peebles manager John O’Hara told The Southern: “Everything is a bit of a shambles at the moment because of so many games having been put off due to the weather.

“Peebles are not alone as there are many other teams in the same boat and it’s just a nightmare. The last time we played was on December 21 and that’s a long time ago in football terms.

“Our guys are very frustrated in not being able to play but you just have to keep going and get on with it.”

Talking of his sides impending meeting with Tynecastle, O’Hara added: “Fingers crossed the weather will be kind and we shall get a game on Saturday as we really need to start playing again.

“Tynecastle are just above us in the league and are a good side but it’s a match we will be looking to win.”

Hawick Royal Albert are also involved in East of Scotland League action.

Currently enjoying their best season for some considerable time, Hawick visit Saughton Enclosure to take on Lothian Thistle/Hutchison Vale.

In the Lowland League scene, Gala Fairydean Rovers entertain Spartans at Netherdale. The two sides tangled in an East of Scotland Qualifying Cup match in Edinburgh a week past Wednesday evening, which saw Spartans gain a 2-1 victory through an injury time goal. The club will also be hosting their annual Sponsors Day and launching their award winning Community Engagement Programme prior to the game.

Selkirk and Vale of Leithen are away to Whitehill Welfare and Stirling Uni respectively.
