Kelso 1

GALA reserved their best performance of the season with a stunning fightback in the semi-finals of the SBJFA Cup at Netherdale on Thursday evening.

Kelso justified their favourites status by scoring early on with a penalty and could have gone further ahead if it were not for a couple of fine saves by keeper Patrick Murray.

But midway through the game the pendulum swung in Gala’s favour after Nathan Berry equalised from close range.

In the final period of the match it was all Fairies and they went close on several occasions. They finally took the lead when Liam Nicholson drilled a free kick into the bottom corner of the net.

Victory was clinched when Neil Turnbull powered through the Kelso defence and fired the ball home for his first goal of the season.

Gala now go through to the final of the SBJFA Cup and will face league champions Peebles at Netherdale on Sunday (kick-off 3pm).
