Chirnside to the four in second half

Chirnside 4

Hawick Legion 1

A FOUR-GOAL second-half blast sent Legion reeling to defeat.

The Teries broke the deadlock during the first half with a well-struck Andrew Maltman free kick from 25 yards.

Following the break, Chirnside equalised by courtesy of a Steven Sharkey own goal. The Berwickshire men then took the lead through a free kick. Shortly after this, Legion were reduced to 10 men when Maltman was shown a straight red for a rash challenge.

Chirnside grabbed a third before Legion lost the services of new signing Luke Cooper, who suffered a knee injury.

Having used all their substitutes, Legion were now down to nine players.

In the closing stages Chirnside rubbed further salt in Legion’s wounds by netting again.
