Berwick Rangers have appointed former Hearts, Wolves and Scotland midfielder Colin Cameron as their new player-manager.

The 41-year-old, who parted company with Cowdenbeath in November, has signed a one-and-a-half-year contract.

Robbie Horn, who was interested in taking on the role, will stay on as Cameron’s assistant.

Cameron said: “I wanted to get back into football and I have quicker than I expected and in a position I did not expect. I know a bit about Berwick as Cowdenbeath played there in a Scottish League Cup tie earlier this season in a game I played in.

“There are good players here and I am looking forward to putting in a charge that will move us up the table.”

Cameron took over the reigns at Shielfield Park last week following the sacking of former manager Ian Little and made a dream start when playing a pivotal role in his new team’s 4-0 Scottish League Division Two victory over Stirling Albion.
