Agonising abandonment

IT WAS mentioned before the Selkirk v Vale of Leithen game kicked off last Saturday that whoever had the benefit of the storm-force wind in the second half would win.

Unfortunately for Selkirk, they never had the chance to find out as the Lowland League fixture was abandoned after 72 minutes.

The Souters had, however, reduced a 2-0 half-time deficit through a Sean Guiney goal, and a shot off the post and a goal disallowed for offside had them believing a shock victory was on the cards.

The tie will be replayed at a later date.
