In a rain-affected match, reduced to 35 overs and played at the home of Scottish cricket, a Gala win looked highly unlikely when they were reduced to 16 for three batting first.
But Sri Lankan professional Upul Indrasiri, making his league debut, and Duncan Millar put on a brilliant partnership of 149 to take the Braw Lads to 180 for four, reports Kenny Paterson.
Indrasiri ended unbeaten on 108 not out and Millar made 48 to set Grange a challenging total.
The home side also made a poor start, with Dinesh Tharanga and Scott Paterson claiming the wickets of their openers, Brock and Blain, to leave Grange 8 for two.

Further wickets fell but Donaldson (33) and Scott (73) led a comeback which put the game on a knife edge.
But Ash Rhode's introduction proved pivotal, claiming the wicket of Scott and ending with four wickets for 25 as Grange ended on 168 all out.
