Conor Hedley wins Oxton Games Sprint

On a day that produced four seasons in the space of as many hours it was somewhat appropriate that Morpeth music student Conor Hedley won the feature Oxton Games Sprint.

The win saw the 22-year-old pick up his first victory on the Border Games circuit this season.

“Before I came here today we decided this would be the last Games I participated in this season,” he said.

“Now I have the winning bug, who knows though.”

The Morpeth Harrier is coached by his grandfather Brian Hedley who was also a regular on the Borders circuit in his youth.

Other winners at Oxton included, Jedburgh veteran Thomas Finkle, Hawick butcher Derek Scott (1600m), Gala Harrier William Darling (200m Youths Group A) and former Special Olympics athlete Craig Sharratt from Jedburgh.
