THE second instalment of the popular Battle in the Borders MMA cage event will take place at Teviotdale Leisure Centre in Hawick on Saturday, July 14.
Featuring on the card are several fighters from the Hawick-based Twindragons Club, who are facing competition from all over the country, including Teri Andrew McAuley, who is competing for the BIB British semi-pro bantamweight title.
He will square up to former British total combat champion Liam Webstell from Bishop Auckland.
Now in the latter stages of his training, McAuley has been pushed very hard over the past few weeks by Twindragons MMA coach Darren Johnstone and strength and conditioning partner Neil Davidson from RDAS Crossfit Gym in Selkirk.
The title shot truly is testament to his work ethic and knowledge of the multiple styles needed to compete at this particular level, and he is confident in his abilities to go out and get the job done.
Also on the card next week is former world kickboxing champion Chloe Hinchcliffe from Leeds Cage, who will be facing current WMC women’s World Champion Anna Zuchille of London’s KO-Gym.
These are both full-time professional athletes who contacted the Hawick club to make a match on the card. This competition underlines the way that women’s MMA in Britain is rapidly catching up with the men’s and there has already been massive interest from America with regards to these two competing in Strikeforce.
Tickets for the event are available from Headz up Hairdressers in Hawick on 01450 372201 or 07584 043412. Doors open 5.30pm, first fight 6.30pm.
