Area 19 title for Lauderdale

A LAUDERDALE Hunt Pony Club team has leapt to success by claiming the Scottish Area 19 Intermediate Showjumping Championship.

Catherine Watson, Charlotte Dun, Kirsty Nunn and Alex Mundell picked up the crown at Ingliston Equestrian Centre near Glasgow, before travelling to Cheshire to take on the best in the UK, finishing second.

The quartet’s achievement qualifies them for the Pony Club Open Showjumping competition at Hickstead in July 2013.

Meanwhile, Charlotte Dun became overall Working Hunter pony champion at Blair Castle Horse Trials last week. On the same day, Alex Mundell competed for Scotland in the Working Hunter pony team competition and finished fifth in the intermediate section, while the Scottish team ended up fourth overall.

And fellow Lauderdale member Laura Runciman ended up in seventh place in the Pony Club Novice Eventing Championships on Sunday.

She performed a superb 23.6 dressage, had an unfortunate pole down in the showjumping phase and produced a clear and under-the-time run in the cross-country.
