These children’s toys sold on Wowcher and LivingSocial have been urgently recalled because they don’t meet UK safety standards

Discount sites Wowcher and LivingSocial have been forced to recall seven products aimed at children after they failed to meet required safety standards.

In a notice posted to their websites, both companies said they were “very sorry for any disappointment and inconvenience” that the recall may cause.

A spokesperson for Wowcher said it has contacted affected customers, advising them on what action to take, and "confirming to them that in light of the recall their voucher would be refunded."

Here is a breakdown of the list of recalled items.

Inflatable Baby Float Boat

This product, with the ID code 11050190, was advertised on Wowcher and LivingSocial between 29/03/19 and 27/08/19.

The float boat, which has a sunshade, does not meet UK health and safety regulations.

Customers have been asked to stop using the product immediately, and to safely dispose of it at once.

Princess Castle Tent with Star Lights

This product was advertised on the sites between 18/07/19 and 12/09/19, and does not meet UK health and safety regulations.

As a precautionary measure, Wowcher and LivingSocial have asked customers to stop using it and to dispose of it immediately.

LED Fairy Lights Curtain

Advertised on Wowcher and LivingSocial between 26/08/19 and 23/12/19, these LED curtains sold by MBLogic do not meet health and safety standards.

Parents have been asked to dispose of them safely and immediately.

Electric Walking Dinosaur

This children’s toy can short-circuit and overheat dangerously.

Parents have been told to stop using it immediately.

Its full model description is: Shenzhen Zeyuan Warehousing Logistics Co Ltd - Wow What Who 12904544 Electric Walking Dinosaur (Tyrannosaurus Laying Egg option).

It was advertised on Wowcher and LivingSocial between 15/10/19 and 15/12/19.

Christmas Night Light Star Projector

Customers who bought this projector, sold by Flybuddy Ltd - Magic Trend, have been asked to dispose of it immediately as it does “not comply with the relevant national standard”.

It’s product code is: 13413110.

It was advertised on Wowcher and LivingSocial between 04/12/19 and 07/01/20.

Educational Cartoon Telephone

The Chartered Trading Standards Institute said small parts from this toy “have been found to become detached” and pose an “asphyxiation hazard to young children.”

The cartoon telephone’s product ID is 12904921 from MBLogic deal. It was advertised on Wowcher and LivingSocial between 16/10/19 and 15/12/19.

Parents are advised to throw the toy out immediately.

Interactive Teddy Bear Toy

The bear has been described as a choking hazard as small parts of it can become detached.

Its product ID is 11243363 from WowWhatWho.It was advertised on Wowcher and LivingSocial between 02/05/19 and 07/12/19.

Parents are advised to stop using it immediately and dispose of it safely.
