More housing space needed

I think land reform is long overdue.

We are a small country where land is at a premium and there is very little for housing with a growing population.

We are in the 21st century and the days of any person holding on to vast areas of land are over.

Most of the estates have been in the possession of the chosen few for hundreds of years and are handed down from one generation to the next. Some of their land might be used for the likes of grouse shooting or fishing, for a fee of course, and some of it is kept just for the sake of having it and, most of all, keeping it in perpetuity. I do not think it is being held for the benefit of the community in general.

The Government should purchase the bulk of the land concerned at a reasonable price.
