COUNCILLORS have approved the disposal of a housing site at Back Lane in Yetholm to Eildon Housing Association.
The decision was made at last week’s meeting of Scottish Borders Council executive and also saw agreement to fund a feasibility study to establish the financial viability regarding the housing project and resolving the associated access issues.
The council had retained the former housing revenue account site following the conclusion of the large-scale voluntary housing stock transfer in 2003.
It has been anticipated that up to 14 affordable homes could be built on the site, but early discussions have now suggested that a mixed tenure development may be the best way forward to produce a financially viable project.
The Back Lane site has lain undeveloped fo some time with just occasional use as grazing land.
