WATCH: Flood warnings issued across the Borders

SEPA has issued Flood Warnings for several Borders areas, including Hawick, which has already bore the brunt of damage through storms Desmond and Frank.

Rain has continued to fall throughout most of today and river levels are rising.

SEPA’s advice to those at risk is, as ever, to be vigilant, and for people to take actions which would help protect themselves or their property.

The following Flood Warnings are now in force until further notice:

HAWICK (Teviot)

Road flooding is expected at Teviot Road and Mansfield Road. There is a risk of property flooding on Teviot Road, Teviot Crescent, and Laidlaw Terrace.

Flooding is also possible along both sides of the river downstream of the cauld, including Upper Common Haugh and St Georges Lane.

HAWICK to Monteviot (Teviot)

There is a risk of flooding from the River Teviot to low-lying agricultural areas near to the river as well as the Riverside Caravan Park and properties in Denholm.

ETTRICK VALLEY (Ettrick)

There is a risk of flooding to low-lying areas near to the Ettrick Water including the B709 and B7009 roads leading to access problems along the valley. The access to the Thirlestane Gardens property may be cut off. There is a risk of flooding to properties in Ettrick, Angecroft, and Deephope and Hopehouse Caravan Parks.

Scottish Borders Council’s nearest sandbag store is a locked store at Philiphaugh Rugby Ground in Selkirk, operated by the Flood Support Group. There is another sandbag store located at the Fire Station at Shawpark Crescent in Selkirk.

DRUMELZIER TO DAWYCK (Tweed)

There is a risk of flooding of the access roads at Rachan Home Farm and Drumelzier place as well as flooding to low-lying agricultural land. Standing water on roads, including the B712, may lead to difficult driving conditions.

Flooding of low-lying properties close to the river is expected. Properties at risk include Wester Dawyck, Easter Happrew and Altarstone.

Standing water on roads, including the B712, may lead to difficult driving conditions.

CAMPTOWN TO JEDBURGH (River Jed)

There is a risk of flooding to low-lying agricultural areas near to the river from Chesters to Howden Burn including Mossburnford.
