THE voluntary work of two Borders College students was praised at a ceremony in Galashiels.
Borders Sport and Leisure Trust chief executive Ewan Jackson presented the Young Volunteer Awards to full-time carpentry and joinery students Josh Loftus and Robbie Pringle at the Volunteer Hall event.
Working for Waverley Housing, Mr Loftus carried out joinery voluntarily while Mr Pringle completed over 200 hours of voluntary work with Thermaglaze, helping installing windows and doors.
A spokesperson for the college said: “Both students were with the companies on work placement where students are given an opportunity to enhance their employability skills. Robbie has now managed to secure a joinery apprenticeship with Thermaglaze, proving that progression to full time employment through work placement is achievable.”
