VILLAGERS who were in Denholm in 1952 gathered together on Sunday for a photograph beside a tree that was planted to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
The Denholm Feuars and Householders Council organised the planting of the copper beech on the village green and invited the villagers of 60 years’ standing to gather for the commemorative picture.
Organiser and one of the attendees, Jimmy Steel said: “We thought the village should do something to mark the Jubilee. It was very nice. There were only about half of the villagers who were here in 1952 still here. It was unfortunate that it was such a cold day, but everyone hung about for quite a while and reminisced about who wasn’t there.”
