Hawick Music Live! presents an Easter Fanfare by Brass Diversions in Heart of Hawick’s Tower Mill next Sunday (March 24).

Two trumpets and piano may sound an unusual trio, but they are a cutting edge, diverse ensemble, recently formed to promote a wide variety of unexplored repertoire, as well as giving an unusual twist to a variety of popular and familiar music.

The trumpeters are Huw Morgan – principal trumpet of the Orchestra of Scottish Opera, who was the brass winner of the BBC Young Musician of the Year, 2001 – and Hedley Benson, co-principal trumpet with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, who also plays with the Scottish National Jazz Orchestra.

Pianist Christopher Baxter studied at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, and is now in great demand as accompanist and soloist.

Their music ranges from a Vivaldi concerto for two trumpets, to The Man I Love and Someone to Watch Over me by Gershwin.

The concert takes place at 2.30pm on March 24.

Tickets, £10 adults and £2 students, are available at Visit Scotland, Box Office, Tower Mill Tel: 01450 360688 and on the afternoon of the concert.
